shame on eBay. Email them and give ‘em hell.

Dear eBay Member,

In a continuing effort to provide our users the best possible online trading experience, we randomly select registered users like you to participate in a survey.

For this survey, we are offering a $50 incentive, and are especially interested in feedback from people who have never tried selling on eBay, or those who have, but who have not sold in a long time.

If this sounds interesting to you, please read the survey details below carefully. Survey slots will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, so please act soon if you are interested.

Survey Details:
This is a unique study in that you will be asked to sell any item of your choosing on eBay, and to answer questions about the experience afterwards. You will have until noon on Tuesday, February 8th to list the item for sale and to complete the survey.

If you qualify and complete the entire study, you will be rewarded with a $50 SuperCertificate from GiftCertificates.com upon completion of the survey. The survey should take approximately 60 minutes. Items that do not sell on eBay have no bearing on receipt of the reward if you make a good faith effort to sell the item as instructed and answer the survey questions about your experience.

Please note that the item you list for sale during the survey will appear on the actual eBay web site. This means someone may actually buy the item, and you will be responsible for any associated selling fees and for shipping the item to the buyer, if someone buys it.

We are working with Keynote, formerly the Vividence Corporation, to manage this survey. In order to participate, you will need to download a small tool called the Vividence Connector, which eBay has approved for survey purposes. System requirements and estimated download times for this tool are available in the Vividence FAQs section near the bottom of this email.

To participate now, simply follow these instructions:
1. Go to www.ebay.com
2. Click the Site Map link from the top of the page
3. Click the Consumer Panel link located near the top of the 3rd column of links
4. Click the For New Sellers link on the left side of the page
5. Follow the instructions to start the study

Regards,

eBay

Why didn’t you just provide a link to the evaluation instead of instructions to the eBay Web site?

We are aware that currently there are a lot of emails going out with false links pretending to be eBay in an attempt to gather your personal information. We strive to make your experience as safe as possible, and as such are asking that you go to our site directly to participate in this survey. By doing so, you can be completely sure that this is indeed an eBay-sponsored survey. Thank you for your understanding.

When you are not actively participating in an evaluation, we do not track your movements on the Web. No information is uploaded to us apart from the data gathered during live customer experience evaluations.
