As you may already know, Anam Cara Writer’s and Artist’s Retreat is a residential retreat, providing the time, space, and creature comforts to support your focusing on your own project and doing your best creative work. In addition to these individual residencies, we are once again offering a variety of workshops. To give you a bit of jump on planning your next year, the following have been scheduled. Others are in the works, and we will send a complete list as soon as those dates are set. To be put on the list to receive full details about any of these workshops (to be sent out at the beginning of the New Year), please contact me at anamcararetreat@eircom.net. –I send my best wishes for your holiday season, Sue

*Writing from Within*
*Double Rainbow: Haiku and the Spiritual Dimension, #2*
*Leaders: Maeve O’Sullivan, Ireland, and Kim Richardson, England
Arrival: 12 July 2008
Departure: 19 July 2008*

Following the success of their first workshop, held at Anam Cara in July
2007, this workshop is designed to help you develop paths to your inner
inspiration — the path within. Toward this goal, we work with the
ancient medium of haiku poetry and its related forms, with their roots
in Zen and its emphasis on mindfulness. Combining the haiku work with
meditation, breath and light practices, the outstanding natural beauty
of the Béara Peninsula and the peace and quiet of Anam Cara, our aim is
to heighten levels of awareness and to open creative channels.

*Landscape and the Magic of Paint: Reflecting Our Mind and Soul
Leader: Marianne J. Jansen, The Netherlands
Arrival: 9 August 2008
Departure: 16 August 2008*

We can only paint what we see or imagine. Light gives birth to
thousends of colours and forms and brings the landscape alive.
Beara’s ever-changing scenery will inspire you to capture and transform
all this on paper or canvas. We will devellop and practise our ability
to work in paint and other techniques to touch form and colour, horizon
and depth, interwoven with composition, to come as close to reality as
possible
or to make an abstraction of our own. Abstraction and reality are part
of the two-dimensional illusion.
