my great-grandmother’s farmhouse

So, here’s what I know. My Grandmother Boyer was born in this house. It’s in Ohio. That’s her, in the front yard there in the middle, it’s 1912. She must have been around 32 years old.

Aunt Helen and grandparents

The child in this photo is my Aunt Helen. The adults are my great-grandparents. It’s 1912. My mom remembers her grandfather Boyer had white hair and beard and she thought he was Santa Claus. My great-grandmother Catherine Boyer is the stuff of many stories my mom tells. Since Mom is 90, the stories she knows go back before the Civil War, when the Boyers heard soldiers across the river, encamped on the Kentucky - Ohio border. There’s an intriguing story about a hanging horse thief…

Helen and bird

My Aunt Helen as a youngster. Don’t know the name of the bird.
