Illustration for Amanda, the muse.

Yesterday, watching the workmen pull a Trane… installing Peggy’s HVAC in less than four hours.
Such events lead one’s imagination astray. I thought of my story “Pleasant, As Pie” in Ducts.org and wrote this:
Frank’s wife left for Philadelphia last week. She was to attend a quilting conference. She wore denim dirndl skirts, crocheted vests, and turtlenecks with embroidered with small animal prints. Her passion for plywood cutouts of geese with ribbons and bows scared him. Recently, she’d begun to wear brightly colored tights and white leather tennis shoes.
While checking into her hotel room, she met her high school sweetheart and renewed her once passionate teenage lustful dreams when she shook hands with the doorman. Frank bought four pygmy goats, built a stockade in his wife’s pottery studio, and began to make feta.
