Economic Stimulus

Ticos are like me! I decorate my house the same way, only on the inside!

Much as we appreciate being able to decide how to spend some of our own tax dollars, this US citizen is spending her economic stimulus check in Liberia, Costa Rica. Booked us a room at El Punto Hostel and it will be a great beginning to the Central American Adventure beginning next month. Thanks to TripAdvisor, this funky, used-to-be a school, bed & breakfast, will host our first night. When in Costa Rica, do as the ticos do. We booked our room directly through the elpuntohotel.com website, not anywherecostarica.com.

I was in El Punto for two nights, I wish I could stay there longer! Nice, clean, big rooms and nicely decorated with bright colours, good ilumination and arrangements. The AC worked perfectly plus a fan made the room confortable. Good breakfast plenty of fruits and coffee I loved that. Next door there is Mall and banks where you can buy food if you need to or get some money. There is a phone outside reception to call taxis. Good customer service as needed, they are polite and nice to make your stay troublefree. I started chating with Mariana without knowing that she was the owner, my impression is that she is a pretty and nice lady who tried to give you her honest opinion about your options, I noticed that she is very busy all the time, but when she has some spare time she cames and talk to guesses as she did with me which I appreciate very much. If you are looking for a basic, decent place to stay, this is for you. I would stay here in the future.

Now some people don’t like the El Punto because, well, quite honestly, they’re cry babies who don’t understand they’re in Costa Rica and not Myrtle Beach, NC. Stay home and whine. Hope I don’t come back and eat those words!

Now that Liberia is becoming a popular portal in Costa Rica the problem is where to stay on the night in/night out. El Punto will fill all your needs. It’s hip, clean and fun. Next door the new shopping center has a great grocery store, ice cream shop and a couple of nice restaurants. (be daring, go the the Peruvian; order anything, it’s all good) . Mariana (the owner) typifies the famous Tico hospitality.
