Skip down to the next blog entry if you’re not interested in pain management. It’s okay, you won’t hurt my feelings…
When Good Medicines Become Bad Drugs

There are many ways to treat pain – opioid and non-opioid medications, psychosocial interventions, physical rehabilitation, complementary & alternative medicine (CAM), injection and infusion therapies, implantable devices and surgical interventions. Because of myths and misconceptions about opioids, discussion of medications often overshadows the importance of all available options for treating pain. However, medications play an important role in pain management. Opioid analgesics, when properly prescribed and taken as directed, can be an effective pain treatment option as part of a multi-modal pain treatment plan. Those affected by pain, providers, patients and family alike, need to be well-informed to be sure that myths and misunderstandings do not get in the way of effective pain control. We also must recognize that keeping pain medications out of unsafe hands is everyone’s responsibility.

Please join a special webcast, When Good Medicines Become Bad Drugs, moderated by General Barry R. McCaffrey, former director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. This free webcast, sponsored by Cephalon, Inc., will focus on helping patients, caregivers and the public understand that they too have a responsibility in ensuring that prescription opioids are used appropriately. By providing practical tips for safeguarding medications in the home, the program aims to engage patients and caregivers to take an active role in preventing abuse and diversion of prescription opioid pain medications.

This one-hour webcast will take place on October 21, 2008, starting at 3:00 pm EDT. Please register at http://video.webcasts.com/events/vxmd001/28151/.

FOUND A WAY AROUND THE PARAGRAPH LINE BREAK PROBLEM in WordPress!

1. I copied the text I want to post in WordPress from the original Word document.

2. Then I opened a new (empty) Google document, pasted the Word text into the document text area. The line breaks were deleted — damn.
3. I then  manually add line breaks for paragraphs– they stay in place. Then I copy the the doc again.

So — After pasting document into Google docs and inserting paragraph line breaks, do this
In Google Doc, go to: Edit, then
Select All then
Copy

Open WordPress to Write Post (new):

Click inside posting box (to place text there and not in Title, duh)
Click on WYSIWIG Word Clipboard Icon

Paste Google doc contents into the box
Click Insert

It works.
Save the page and the line breaks remain.

Tried the same technique in POST without using the WYSIWIG Word Clipboard and the line breaks remain in place!!

It’s a strange way around a problem, but hey… it works for me.

WP 2.5 transition

Posted by vmac under Help Yourself, Today's Feature, WordGames

Built a quick blog on wordpress.org for daughter and her spousal unit who will be spending 3 months in Costa Rica this summer. Fascinating comparison — a wordpress hosted blog vs. a website like macewan.net. Here’s the Samara Summer blog link.

When comparing ease of use – here’s the low down between WP 2.5 and a wordpress.org hosted blog. The update, the upgrade, to the new and spiffy-keen WP 2.5 makes blogging easier. Phenomenal changes. Lots of kinks in its installation though.

I adore the copy/paste function in the new 2.5. Writers of substance will truly appreciate it. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the image insertion process — nice.

Finding my bliss…

Posted by vmac under Help Yourself

my happiness came in the form of a swell red/black/white theme. Simple, elegant, and uncomplicated. Alas, WP 2.5 did not enjoy its company and kicked it to the curb. The WordPress v2.5 is truly magnificent. Upgrading to it will really trip your trigger BUT the loss of my template will be felt for a while. I’m searching, ever searching, for a new look. Not that anyone really cares,

but I know if I keep typing here for a bit, I will get a better grasp on how all the new skivvies and trippies work here in 2.5.

I’m gonna’ learn me how to insert a grandballoon boy video and then we’ll get some fun.
