Granted, I’ve only driven from Liberia to Samara, but the beauty of the drive is unparalleled. It’s a “get out your thesaurus, Leroy” day when grasping for adjectives. Phenomenal comes to mind.

And our hotel in Liberia? The El Punto Hotel — and there’s a great story in that which I’ll tell soon… I promise. Some great photos of the hotel and the town of Liberia on Rob’s computer — gotta’ grab ‘em tomorrow.

This, to me, is the real Costa Rica. Samara, Costa Rica! Hey Craig, check out the address: Las Palmeras. Across from the horse field, down the road from the bridge, near the bus stop, where the howler monkeys climb on electric poles, on the road to Nosara, Samara, GTE, Costa Rica. (Did I leave anything out?)

Sometimes photography says it better than words. Sometimes? Well… most of the time, to be truthful.

C4 in Samara

Posted by vmac under Creative Non-Fiction

C4 posted her first entry on her Summer in Samara (Costa Rica) blog. She and Jamie are becoming acclimated to the heat. Apparently they stink like the Survivor cast. Nice. That won’t bother Rob a bit, he barely has any sense of smell. Or is that all men — who don’t smell BO? ahhhhh.

It appears her sense of humor has returned… read more

This morning I woke up and there was a crab (a pretty big one) in the kitchen sink – how the f&*% did he get there? Don’t know, but he was a feisty little sucker! Our neighbor Mara helped me get him out. I could have done it myself ;) , but I was waiting for Jamie to get up and see it first.

Here’s something really funny — if you Google

Britney Spears “Samara, Costa Rica”

you get Rob’s blog 2nd on the list. At least you did last night…

Costa Rican trip preparations

Burn Baby, Burn

It appears we are now to be joined for a couple days in Samara by Rob’s mom, Jeannette and her sister Wanda. Odd indeed. Not the company, oh no, but the idea of us all traipsing down to Playa Samara. The notion of renting a car in Liberia and driving down the Nicoya Peninnsula. At least I think the geographic area is thusly named. Hell, I’m wearing out my Google Earth account just trying to figure out where in the hell we are going.

Why is the hardest part of this journey about the dogs? Because they’re just animals who depend on us 24/7, I suppose. We’re double-fencing the backyard, reinforcing all the gates, blocking entrance to the front porch so they can’t get out to the street. Ruth will be fine. It’s the dogs…
